AN ACT CONCERNING A MUNICIPAL OPTION FOR A HOMESTEAD 
PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTI ON. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Any municipality may, upon 1 
approval by its legislative body or, in a municipality where the 2 
legislative body is a town meeting, by vote of the board of selectmen, 3 
provide an exemption from property tax, not to exceed forty per cent of 4 
the assessed value, for owner-occupied dwellings that are the primary 5 
residences of such owners. 6 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:

Statement of Purpose:   
To authorize municipalities to establish a homestead property tax 
exemption.
