AN ACT INCREASING OVERSIGHT OF MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS OF GROUP PRACTICES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That (1) subsection (h) of section 19a-486i of the general statutes be 1 amended to require every group practice, regardless of the number of 2 physicians, to file a written report concerning the group practice with 3 the Attorney General and Office of Health Strategy, (2) subdivision (12) 4 of subsection (a) of section 19a-639 of the general statutes be amended 5 to elimination the presumption in favor of approving the certificate of 6 need application for a transfer of ownership of a large group practice, 7 and (3) chapter 368z of the general statutes be amended to permit the 8 Office of Health Strategy to require a certificate of need for the 9 acquisition or merger of a group practice of any size, rather than only 10 large group practices of eight or more physicians. 11 Statement of Purpose: To increase oversight of the mergers and acquisitions of group practices.
