AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF THE CRISIS INTERVENTION
TRAINING REQUIRED BY THE STATE POLICE ACADEMY AND
POLICE OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING COUNCIL.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That a study be conducted of the crisis intervention training 1
curriculum currently required by the State Police Academy and the 2
Police Officer Standards and Training Council, in order to ensure that 3
police officers have the tools they need regarding mental health 4
awareness and crisis intervention. 5
Statement of Purpose:
To recognize that incidences related to mental health are on the rise and
to provide law enforcement officers with the tools they need for mental
health awareness and crisis intervention.
