AN ACT CONCERNING HO USING.  
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. Section 8-37mmm of the general statutes is repealed and 1 
the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2021): 2 
(a) For the purposes of this section, "visitable housing" means one-to-3 
four family residential construction that includes three basic 4 
architectural features to allow persons with disabilities to easily visit: (1) 5 
Interior doorways that provide a minimum thirty-two inch wide 6 
unobstructed opening, (2) an accessible means of egress, as defined in 7 
Appendix A to 28 CFR Part 36, and (3) a full or half bathroom on the 8 
first floor that is compliant with the provisions of the Americans with 9 
Disabilities Act of 1990, [as amended,] 42 USC 12101, as amended from 10 
time to time.  11 
(b) The Department of Housing, in consultation with the Connecticut 12 
Housing Finance Authority, may establish a program to encourage the 13 
development of visitable housing in the state. The program shall (1) 14

technical assistance from the state to construct visitable housing, (2) 16 
identify financial incentives for developers who construct visitable 17 
housing, and (3) include public education about such housing. [The 18 
department shall submit a report on the status of the program, in 19 
accordance with section 11-4a, to the joint standing committee of the 20 
General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to housing not 21 
later than October 1, 2012.]  22 
(c) The Department of Housing shall establish, within available 23 
appropriations, an informational web page in a conspicuous place on 24 
such department's Internet web site with a list of links to available 25 
visitable housing resources.  26 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:
