AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF THE ACCESSIB ILITY OF THE 
STATE CAPITOL BUILDING, LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING AND 
RELATED FACILITIES.  
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Joint Committee on 1 
Legislative Management shall contract, in accordance with the 2 
provisions of section 2-71p of the general statutes, with a qualified third-3 
party entity for (1) an examination of the State Capitol building, the 4 
Legislative Office Building and all other buildings, related structures, 5 
grounds and parking facilities under the supervision, security, 6 
utilization and control of the committee, and (2) an assessment of such 7 
buildings, related structures, grounds and parking facilities as to their 8 
accessibility for persons with disabilities. 9 
(b) Not later than January 1, 2022, such qualified third-party entity 10 
shall submit to the Joint Committee on Legislative Management (1) a 11 
report on the findings of such assessment, and (2) recommendations for 12 
(A) improving such accessibility, and (B) modifications to such 13 
buildings, related structures, grounds and parking facilities for 14 
compliance with the provisions of the federal Americans with 15 
Disabilities Act, 42 USC 12101 et seq., as amended from time to time. 16  Substitute Bill No. 964

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:

Statement of Legislative Commissioners:   
In Subsec. (b), "the Americans with Disabilities Act" was changed to "the 
federal Americans with Disabilities Act, 42 USC 12101 et seq.," for 
consistency.
