Primary Analyst: SB 4/12/21 Contributing Analyst(s): Reviewer: JS OFA Fiscal Note State Impact: None Municipal Impact: Municipalities Effect FY 22 $ FY 23 $ Various Local and Regional School Districts Savings Potential Potential Explanation This bill allows local boards of education to “tuition out” students in kindergarten through grade 8 to schools in other school districts in lieu of operating their own elementary schools or regionalizing. This could result in a savings to various local and regional school districts. It is assumed that a local and regional school district would only choose this option if it were less costly than operating a school, or regionalizing. The scope of the savings would be the difference between the cost of operating the school or regionalizing and the amount of tuition paid to "tuition out" students. The Out Years The annualized ongoing fiscal impact identified above would continue into the future subject to inflation.
