Explanation
The bill requires the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to
investigate untimely reporting by peace officers of a death to the
person's next of kin, and in situations where OIG determines
malfeasance, it may make recommendations to the Police Officers
Standards and Training Council to discipline the peace officer. This
additional responsibility is not anticipated to result in a fiscal impact as
minimal violations are anticipated.
