The amendment, which changes the effective date of Section 1 from
July 2022 to July 2023, eliminates the potential cost to municipalities in
FY 23.

Section 501 of the amendment requires municipalities to contribute to
the firefighters’ cancer relief account in the amount of $10 per firefighter.
This results in a cost to municipalities with professional fire
departments that will vary based on the number of career firefighters
that serve such municipalities.

The amendment strikes sections 2, 5, and 7 to 10 and the associated fiscal
impact. The amendment also makes technical changes which results in
no fiscal impact.

The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely
