The amendment strikes Section 1 of the underlying bill and the
associated fiscal impact to municipalities. Section one of the amendment
requires the Joint Counsel of Connecticut Fire Services Organization to
develop a plan for maintenance on turnout gear resulting in no fiscal
impact to the state.
The amendment strikes Section 501 of the underlying bill and the
associated fiscal impact. Section 501 requires municipalities to
contribute to the firefighters’ cancer relief account in the amount of $10
per firefighter. This results in a cost to municipalities with fire
departments that will vary based on the number of firefighters that
serve such municipalities.
