OFA Fiscal Note
Eliminates Cost In Bill
The amendment eliminates the cost in the underlying bill of up to
$50,000 to the Insurance Department (DOI) associated with hiring a
consultant because the amendment removes the requirement for DOI to
adopt implementing regulations.
The amendment may result in a revenue gain to the state to the extent
the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) enforces the bill’s provisions.
It does not result in costs to OAG as the agency would still have
discretion over what enforcement action is brought under these
provisions.
The amendment also makes other revisions that are not anticipated
to change the rest of the fiscal impact provided for the underlying bill.
The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely
for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General
Assembly or either chamber thereof for any purpose. In general, fiscal impacts are based upon a variety of
informational sources, including the analyst’s professional knowledge. Whenever applicable, agency data is
consulted as part of the analysis, however final products do not necessarily reflect an assessment from any
specific department.
