AN ACT CONCERNING CLEAN AND SAFE WELL WATER.
SUMMARY
By law, if the (1) Department of Environmental and Energy
Protection (DEEP) commissioner determines that groundwater
pollution has or is reasonably expected to occur, and (2) Department of
Public Health commissioner determines that the pollution creates or is
reasonably expected to create an unacceptable injury risk to people
using the water for drinking and other domestic or personal use, then
the DEEP commissioner may order the person or municipality
responsible for the pollution to provide potable drinking water to all
people affected by it.
This bill specifies that the order may include the repair or
replacement of a contaminated private well if the DEEP commissioner
deems it necessary.
The bill also makes technical changes.
