CURREY, 11th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING EDUCATION FUNDING IN CONNECTICUT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 172 of the general statutes be amended to (1) replace the 1 existing funding levels for interdistrict magnet schools, state charter 2 schools and regional agricultural science and technology education 3 centers with a new weighted funding amount per pupil based on 4 student need, (2) repeal the charging of tuition for interdistrict magnet 5 schools and regional agricultural science and technology education 6 centers, (3) revise the formula used to calculate a town's equalization aid 7 grant by fully funding those towns who have previously been 8 underfunded by the formula, and (4) increase accountability by 9 ensuring that funding increases be spent on supporting students and 10 teachers, improving student achievement, recruiting and retaining 11 high-quality teachers and engaging parents, families and community 12 partners. 13 Proposed Bill No. 5003 LCO No. 385 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To make revisions to how public education is funded in the state.
