The amendment makes a variety of changes associated with elections
and registration with the Secretary of the State (SOTS), The Department
of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and the State Elections Enforcement
Commission (SEEC) and results in the fiscal impacts outlined below.
Sections 502-506, requires that SOTS and the DMV and cross
reference data and information within the United States Citizenship and
Immigration Services electronic immigration status verification, for (1)
voter registration, (2) photo identification, and (3) voter registration
forms. This results in a potential cost to the extent that additional staff
time is required to comply with verification requirements.
Section 507 and 508 requires that registrars of voters of each town
compile a report on same day registration voting and report to SOTS
and refer any unverified registrations to the State Elections Enforcement
Commission (SEEC). This results in a potential cost to the extent that
additional staff time is required.
