LCO No. 1552 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 394 February Session, 2024 LCO No. 1552 Referred to Committee on GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION AND ELECTIONS Introduced by: (GAE) AN ACT ESTABLISHING AN EXEMPTION FROM DISCLOSURE FOR CERTAIN HIGHER EDUCATION RECORDS PERTAINING TO TEACHING OR RESEARCH UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 1-210 of the 2024 supplement to 1 the general statutes is amended by adding subdivision (29) as follows 2 (Effective July 1, 2024): 3 (NEW) (29) Records maintained or kept on file by or for the faculty 4 or staff of a public institution of higher education arising out of teaching 5 or research on medical, artistic, scientific, legal or other scholarly issues, 6 including any such records of legal clinics or centers, but excluding any 7 financial records of such institution. 8 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2024 1-210(b)(29) Raised Bill No. 394 LCO No. 1552 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To amend the Freedom of Information Act to exempt certain proprietary records held by a public institution of higher education pertaining to teaching or research from disclosure.
