LCO No. 2876 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 449 February Session, 2024 LCO No. 2876 Referred to Committee on FINANCE, REVENUE AND BONDING Introduced by: (FIN) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF STATE TAXATION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Commissioners of Economic and 1 Community Development and Revenue Services shall study certain 2 taxes imposed by this state, such as the personal income tax, sales and 3 use taxes, the corporation business tax and the affected business entity 4 tax, in comparison with surrounding states to identify programmatic 5 and legislative changes that may be made to develop the economic 6 competitiveness of the state. The commissioners may consult with any 7 individuals, businesses and state agencies the commissioners deem 8 necessary or appropriate to accomplish the purposes of the study. Not 9 later than January 1, 2025, the commissioners shall submit a report, in 10 accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, 11 on the commissioners' findings and recommendations to the joint 12 standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of 13 matters relating to commerce and finance, revenue and bonding. 14 Raised Bill No. 449 LCO No. 2876 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section Statement of Purpose: To require the Commissioners of Economic and Community Development and Revenue Services to study certain taxes imposed by this state.
