AN ACT CONCERNING ENGINE BRAKING BY COMMERCIAL MOTOR
VEHICLES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of 1
Transportation to (1) adopt regulations restricting the use of engine 2
compression brake devices, (2) identify and select areas affected by the 3
use of such devices, and create and install signs denoting such 4
restrictions in such areas, and (3) coordinate with law enforcement 5
agencies regarding the effective enforcement of such regulations. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To alleviate excessive noises on roadways caused by the use of engine
compression brake devices in densely populated residential areas.
