AN ACT CONCERNING TEACHER MEMBERSHIP ON THE STATE
BOARD OF EDUCATION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 10-1 of the general statutes be amended to require that 1
the State Board of Education consist of two active certified classroom 2
teachers who are employed by a local or regional board of education 3
and work at least fifty per cent of their time in a classroom with students 4
in grades kindergarten to twelve, inclusive. 5
Statement of Purpose:
To ensure that the perspective of practicing classroom teachers are
included in the deliberations of the State Board of Education.
