AN ACT CONCERNING REPORTS ON FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS SUSPECTED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A LITHIUM BATTERY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 541 of the general statutes be amended to provide that: 1 (1) If a fire department suspects that a lithium battery was the cause and 2 origin of a fire or explosion, the fire department shall submit a report 3 regarding such fire or explosion and the suspected cause and origin to 4 the General Assembly and the Office of the State Fire Marshal; and (2) 5 the Office of the State Fire Marshal shall (A) collect any such reports, (B) 6 publish on the office's Internet web site any such reports, and (C) submit 7 any such reports to the joint standing committee of the General 8 Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public safety. 9 Statement of Purpose: To require (1) fire departments to report fires and explosions suspected to have been caused by lithium batteries, and (2) the Office of the State Fire Marshal to maintain and make public any such reports.
