LCO No. 5490 1 of 2 General Assembly Committee Bill No. 5609 January Session, 2025 LCO No. 5490 Referred to Committee on LABOR AND PUBLIC EMPLOYEES Introduced by: (LAB) AN ACT CONCERNING RETIREMENT BENEFITS AND WORKERS' COMPENSATION BENEFITS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2025) Notwithstanding any 1 provision of the general statutes or special act, a municipality or special 2 taxing district that provides a pension and retirement system for its 3 officers and employees and their beneficiaries shall consider temporary 4 total disability and temporary partial disability benefits received by an 5 employee pursuant to chapter 568 of the general statutes as wages for 6 purposes of the calculation of pension or retirement benefits to be paid 7 to such employee in retirement. 8 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2025 New section Statement of Purpose: To prohibit employers from reducing retirement benefits due to an employee receiving workers' compensation benefits.
