AN ACT CONCERNING THE MAINTENANCE OF RECORDS COLLECTED BY LICENSE PLATE READERS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapters 104 and 529 of the general statutes be amended to 1 provide that the state, a political subdivision of the state or a contractor 2 that receives state funds shall not maintain any record collected by a 3 license plate reader for more than seventy-two hours, except for any 4 such record that shows that a motor vehicle matches an alert on a list of 5 vehicles of interest or is requested pursuant to a warrant or court order. 6 Statement of Purpose: To protect personal privacy by prohibiting the state, a political subdivision of the state or a contractor that receives state funds from maintaining certain records concerning motor vehicles.
