DUBITSKY, 47th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING PROOF OF IDENTITY, CITIZENSHIP AND RESIDENCY FOR PURPOSES OF VOTING. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 9 of the general statutes be amended to provide that (1) prior 1 to being admitted as an elector, including during same-day election 2 registration, each person shall present to an election official proof of 3 such person's (A) United States citizenship, and (B) Connecticut 4 residency, and (2) prior to receiving and being able to cast a ballot, each 5 elector shall present to an election official a current and valid photo 6 identification, which identification clearly displays such elector's name 7 and residential address. 8 Statement of Purpose: To require (1) persons to present proof of United States citizenship and Connecticut residency prior to registering to vote, and (2) electors to present photo identification prior to voting.
