AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAID COVERAGE OF FOOD AS 
MEDICINE AND EXPANDING ACCESS TO THE CONNECTICUT 
FARMERS' MARKET/WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN NUTRITION 
PROGRAM. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to (1) require the Commissioner 1 
of Social Services to seek a federal Medicaid waiver under Section 1115 2 
of the Social Security Act to provide Medicaid coverage for produce 3 
prescriptions for Medicaid beneficiaries with nutrition-related chronic 4 
diseases, and (2) address barriers to participation in the Connecticut 5 
Farmers' Market/Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program 6 
administered by the Department of Agriculture. 7  Proposed Bill No.  6101

To expand access to fruits and vegetables for families with low incomes.
