AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEFINITION OF "INFERTILITY".
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That chapter 700c of the general statutes be amended to define 1
"infertility" as a disease, condition or status characterized by: (1) The 2
failure to establish a pregnancy or to carry a pregnancy to live birth after 3
regular, unprotected sexual intercourse in accordance with the 4
guidelines published by the American Society for Reproductive 5
Medicine, its successor organization or a comparable organization; (2) a 6
person's inability to reproduce without medical intervention either as a 7
single individual or with such person's partner; or (3) a licensed 8
physician's findings based on a patient's medical, sexual and 9
reproductive history, age, physical findings or diagnostic testing. 10
Statement of Purpose:
To revise the definition of "infertility" for purposes of health insurance
coverage under individual and group health insurance policies.
