AN ACT CONCERNING ANIMAL ABUSE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That subsection (a) of section 53-247 of the general statutes be 1
amended to increase the penalty from an unclassified misdemeanor 2
punishable up to one year in prison, a fine of up to one thousand dollars, 3
or both, to a class D felony for a first offense of starvation of, violence 4
against or death of an animal and performing medical procedures or 5
experimentation without a veterinarian license. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To increase the penalty for a first offense of starvation of, violence
against or death of an animal and performing medical procedures or
experimentation without a veterinarian license.
