AN ACT REQUIRING THE ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL
COMMISSION ON CORRECTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES STANDARDS
AND ACCREDITATION REQUIREMENTS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
CORRECTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That chapter 325 of the general statutes be amended to require the 1
Department of Correction to: (1) Adopt and implement the health 2
services standards as established by the National Commission on 3
Correctional Health Care, (2) pursue and maintain National 4
Commission on Correctional Health Care accreditation for all state 5
correctional facilities under its jurisdiction, and (3) complete initial 6
National Commission on Correctional Health Care accreditation for all 7
such facilities not later than October 1, 2028. 8
Statement of Purpose:
To establish mandatory adoption of National Commission on
Correctional Health Care standards and accreditation requirements for
Department of Correction facilities, ensuring standardized high-quality
health care services for persons who are incarcerated.
