AN ACT CONCERNING THE CONSUMPTION OF ENERGY DRINKS BY CHILDREN. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) establish a working group 1 to study the (A) medical risks associated with children consuming 2 energy drinks, and (B) anticipated effects of a prohibition on the sale of 3 energy drinks to children, public health and the state-wide sale of 4 energy drinks, (2) require the Department of Consumer Protection to 5 develop signage alerting consumers to the medical risks associated with 6 children consuming energy drinks and retailers to post such signage, 7 and (3) require the Department of Public Health to develop a one-page 8 document explaining the medical risks associated with children 9 consuming energy drinks for distribution to pediatricians and licensed 10 athletic trainers. 11 Statement of Purpose: To establish a working group to study the medical risks associated with the consumption of energy drinks by children and effects of a prohibition on the sale of energy drinks to children, require signage related to the medical risks associated with the consumption of energy Proposed Bill No. 6185 LCO No. 3118 2 of 2 drinks by children and require a document explaining the medical risks associated with the consumption of energy drinks by children.
