LCO No. 4015 1 of 2 General Assembly Committee Bill No. 6765 January Session, 2025 LCO No. 4015 Referred to Committee on VETERANS' AND MILITARY AFFAIRS Introduced by: (VA) AN ACT CONCERNING ASSISTANCE WITH DENTAL SERVICES FOR CERTAIN VETERANS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2025) (a) As used in this section, 1 "veteran" has the same meaning as provided in section 27-103 of the 2 general statutes, and "federally-qualified health center" has the same 3 meaning as provided in Section 1905(l)(2)(B) of the Social Security Act, 4 42 USC 1396d(l)(2)(B), as amended from time to time. 5 (b) On and after January 1, 2026, the Commissioner of Veterans 6 Affairs shall, within available appropriations, implement and 7 administer a program to provide assistance vouchers to eligible veterans 8 for purposes of covering certain costs associated with receiving dental 9 services at The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and 10 any federally-qualified health center in this state. 11 (c) The commissioner shall adopt regulations in accordance with the 12 provisions of chapter 54 of the general statutes to carry out the 13 provisions of subsection (b) of this section, including, but not limited to, 14 (1) the development of criteria for the determination of a veteran's 15 Committee Bill No. 6765 LCO No. 4015 2 of 2 eligibility for the program described in said subsection, (2) the 16 establishment of procedures, and prescription of any necessary forms, 17 by which a veteran may apply for such program, (3) the types of dental 18 services for which costs may be covered under such program, and (4) 19 the nature and amounts of the costs incurred for such dental services 20 that may be covered under such program. 21 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 October 1, 2025 New section Statement of Purpose: To establish a program to assist eligible veterans with certain costs associated with dental services received at The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and federally-qualified health centers.
