AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAID COVERAGE FOR ALLERGY 
PREVENTION. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2025) (a) To the extent permissible 1 
under federal law, the Commissioner of Social Services shall provide 2 
Medicaid coverage for allergen introduction dietary supplements for 3 
infants enrolled in the Medicaid program to help prevent common food 4 
allergies, including, but not limited to, allergies to peanuts, eggs and 5 
dairy products. 6 
(b) The commissioner shall seek any necessary federal approval, 7 
including, but not limited to, a Medicaid waiver or amendment to the 8 
Medicaid state plan, to provide such coverage. Not later than September 9 
1, 2026, the commissioner shall file a report, in accordance with the 10 
provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, with the joint 11 
standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of 12 
matters relating to human services on (1) the number of infants 13 
provided such supplements, and (2) an estimate of savings that may 14 
accrue to the state from preventing allergies that may later require 15

medical intervention. 16 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections: 
 
Section 1 July 1, 2025 New section 
 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require Medicaid coverage, to the extent permissible under federal 
law, for allergen introduction dietary supplements for infants to prevent 
common food allergies that may later require costly medical 
intervention.
