AN ACT REQUIRING AUTOMATIC POSTINGS OF CERTAIN STATE
JOBS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2025) Notwithstanding the 1
provisions of chapter 67 of the general statutes, whenever there is a 2
vacancy in any (1) position not appointed by the Governor or a member 3
of the General Assembly within the Department of Public Health, the 4
Department of Children and Families, the Department of Mental Health 5
and Addiction Services, the Department of Revenue Services, the 6
Department of Correction or the Labor Department, or (2) teaching 7
position within the Technical Education and Career System, the 8
department shall post such vacant position in a job advertisement not 9
later than ten days after such vacancy occurs. The provisions of this 10
section shall not affect the terms of any collective bargaining agreement 11
in effect on July 1, 2025, for the duration of such agreement. 12
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To require an appointing authority to post a job advertisement for
certain positions within ten days of a vacancy occurring.
