LCO No. 3564 1 of 2 General Assembly Committee Bill No. 80 January Session, 2025 LCO No. 3564 Referred to Committee on ENVIRONMENT Introduced by: (ENV) AN ACT CONCERNING THE BURNING OF MEDICAL WASTE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) No person shall operate a 1 medical waste incinerator unless such incinerator is in compliance with 2 all standards of the United States Environmental Protection Agency for 3 medical waste incinerators. The Commissioner of Energy and 4 Environmental Protection may adopt regulations, in accordance with 5 the provisions of chapter 54 of the general statutes, to provide for the 6 enforcement of the provisions of this section. 7 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section Statement of Purpose: To prohibit the burning of medical waste by facilities that do not meet EPA standards for the burning of such waste.
