AN ACT ESTABLISHING A LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK IN A RURAL OR OTHER UNDERSERVED AREA OR IN A FIELD WITH A WORKFORCE SHORTAGE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to establish a loan forgiveness 1 program that forgives up to fifty thousand dollars of graduate school 2 loans for health care professionals who (1) are not participating in 3 another state or federal loan forgiveness or loan reimbursement 4 program, (2) obtain and maintain licensure as a health care professional 5 by the Department of Public Health, and (3) agree to work in the state 6 for a minimum of four years of full-time work or a minimum of eight 7 years of part-time work as a health care professional in a rural or other 8 underserved area or in a health care field with a workforce shortage. 9 Statement of Purpose: To address the shortage of health care professionals in the state.
