AN ACT CONCERNING STREET TAKEOVERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Establish a program to 1
provide grants to municipalities to support the enforcement of laws 2
concerning street takeovers and street racing, (2) increase licensure 3
penalties for violating laws concerning street takeovers and street 4
racing, (3) extend existing criminal penalties for illegally operating a 5
motor vehicle to violations of laws concerning street racing and street 6
takeovers, (4) authorize municipalities to adopt ordinances that penalize 7
street takeovers and street racing, (5) authorize municipalities to destroy 8
all-terrain vehicles, dirt bikes and mini-motorcycles that are seized and 9
forfeited for violating a municipal ordinance, and (6) limit current 10
protections for all-terrain vehicles, dirt bikes and mini-motorcycles that 11
prevent them from being forfeited. 12
Statement of Purpose:
To strengthen laws relating to street takeovers.
