AN ACT CONCERNING THE SELECTION OF CONTRACTORS FOR
PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That chapter 557 of the general statutes be amended to require the 1
state or its agents to give preference to manufacturers, fabricators and 2
erectors located in the state when selecting contractors for the 3
construction, reconstruction, alteration, remodeling, repair or 4
demolition of any public building or other public works projects 5
administered by the state or its agents, and if no such manufacturer, 6
fabricator or erector is available, to manufacturers, fabricators and 7
erectors located in the United States. 8
Statement of Purpose:
To generate job growth and economic development by requiring the
state and its agents to give preference to in-state manufacturers,
fabricators and erectors.
