AN ACT REESTABLISHING THE LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM REVIEW
AND INVESTIGATIONS COMMITTEE AND REQUIRING
PERFORMANCE AUDITS BY THE AUDITORS OF PUBLIC
ACCOUNTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That title 2 of the general statutes be amended to (1) reestablish the 1
Legislative Program Review and Investigations Committee to review 2
and audit state agency programs for efficiency, effectiveness, 3
performance and compliance; (2) require the Auditors of Public 4
Accounts to conduct performance audits of state agencies for efficiency, 5
effectiveness, performance and compliance and to produce reports on 6
their findings and recommendations; (3) require such committee to hold 7
a public hearing on completed reports and the Auditors of Public 8
Accounts to present their findings and recommendations to the 9
committee at such hearing; and (4) require the audited agency to attend 10
the hearing to respond to such recommendations and findings. 11
Statement of Purpose:
To reinstate the Program Review and Investigations Committee and
require the Auditors of Public Accounts to conduct performance audits Proposed Bill No. 614

of state agencies for efficiency, effectiveness, performance and
compliance.
