AN ACT IMPOSING FINES AGAINST PERSONS WHO PARTICIPATE 
IN MARRIAGE FRAUD. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That chapter 815e of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 
any person who participates in a marriage and any person who is 2 
authorized to perform a marriage in this state who participates in or 3 
performs a marriage while knowing such marriage is for purposes of 4 
evading any provision of United States immigration law shall be fined 5 
not less than two thousand dollars and not more than ten thousand 6 
dollars per violation. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To prevent knowing and wilful immigration and marriage fraud.
