AN ACT CONCERNING COURT DISCRETION TO ADD A FAMILY 
VIOLENCE COMPONENT TO THE PRETRIAL SUPERVISED 
DIVERSIONARY PROGRAM FOR CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 54-56l of the general statutes be amended to allow 1 
judges, for good cause shown and as the defendant's capacity allows, to 2 
order defendants charged with a family violence crime who are 3 
participating in the state's pretrial supervised diversionary program to 4 
also participate in family violence treatment either in concurrence with 5 
or following completion of mental health treatment. 6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To give the court discretion to add a family violence component 
requirement to the pretrial supervised diversionary program for 
individuals charged with a family violence crime.
