AN ACT REQUIRING EXTENDED REAR -FACING CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That (1) subsection (d) of section 14-100a of the general statutes be 1 amended to require a person who transports a child under four years of 2 age, instead of two years of age, or weighing less than forty pounds, 3 instead of thirty pounds, to provide and require the child to ride rear-4 facing in a child restraint system equipped with a five-point harness; 5 and (2) the general statutes be amended to require any person who is 6 engaged in the business of selling child restraint systems in the state to 7 include a pamphlet with each child restraint system that details the 8 requirements of state law regarding child restraint systems and the 9 safety benefits of extended rear-facing. 10 Statement of Purpose: To require a child under four years of age or weighing less than forty pounds to ride rear-facing in a child restraint system and require a person engaged in the business of selling child restraint systems to Proposed Bill No. 1146 LCO No. 3409 2 of 2 include a pamphlet with each such child restraint system detailing the state law and the safety benefits of extended rear-facing.
