AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF
CERTAIN MUNICIPAL REGULATIONS AND ORDINANCES.
SUMMARY
This bill increases, from $250 to $500, the generally applicable
maximum fine municipalities can set for a violation of an ordinance or
regulation adopted under the general municipal powers law (CGS ยง 7-
148).
As under existing law, ordinances and regulations on certain matters
are subject to other statutorily specified caps (e.g., those on rental
properties, dirt bikes, blight, and cannabis).
EFFECTIVE DATE: October 1, 2025
