LCO 5390 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 1390 January Session, 2025 LCO No. 5390 Referred to Committee on PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY Introduced by: (PS) AN ACT CONCERNING LIVE DIGITAL VIDEO SCHOOL BUS VIOLATION DETECTION MONITORING SYSTEMS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Subsection (e) of section 14-279a of the general statutes is 1 repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from 2 passage): 3 (e) (1) A municipality or local or regional board of education that is 4 not operating a live digital video school bus violation detection 5 monitoring system pursuant to subsection (b) of this section prior to July 6 1, [2024] 2026, shall not (A) commence operation of such a system on or 7 after July 1, [2024] 2026, or (B) enter into an agreement with a private 8 vendor pursuant to subsection (b) of this section for the installation, 9 operation and maintenance of such a system on or after July 1, [2024] 10 2026. 11 (2) A municipality or local or regional board of education, or a private 12 vendor under an agreement pursuant to subsection (b) of this section, 13 that is operating a live digital video school bus violation detection 14 monitoring system pursuant to subsection (b) of this section on July 1, 15 Raised Bill No. 1390 LCO 5390 2 of 2 [2024] 2026, shall cease operation of such system not later than July 1, 16 [2026] 2028, except as provided in subdivision (3) of this subsection. 17 (3) A private vendor operating a live digital video school bus 18 violation detection monitoring system may continue operating such 19 system on or after July 1, [2026] 2028, provided (A) the agreement 20 regarding such operation was entered into pursuant to subsection (b) of 21 this section prior to July 1, [2024] 2026, (B) no option to renew or extend 22 such agreement is exercised on or after July 1, [2024] 2026, that would 23 extend such operation to include any period of time on or after July 1, 24 [2026] 2028, and (C) such operation ceases upon termination of such 25 agreement. 26 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage 14-279a(e) PS Joint Favorable
