LCO No. 5884 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 1491 January Session, 2025 LCO No. 5884 Referred to Committee on PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY Introduced by: (PS) AN ACT CONCERNING A FIRE SUPPRESSION INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT PROGRAM. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2025) For the fiscal year ending June 1 30, 2026, and each fiscal year thereafter, the Department of 2 Administrative Services shall establish a grant program to reimburse 3 municipalities, each with a population of not more than ten thousand, 4 for the cost of fire suppression infrastructure, including, but not limited 5 to, fire hydrants. Not later than October 1, 2025, the department shall 6 post in a conspicuous place on the department's Internet web site a 7 description of the grant program, including, but not limited to, 8 eligibility criteria and the application process for the program. A 9 municipality shall apply for such grants on such forms and in such 10 manner as determined by the department. For purposes of this section, 11 "municipality" has the same meaning as provided in section 7-323j of the 12 general statutes. 13 Raised Bill No. 1491 LCO No. 5884 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2025 New section Statement of Purpose: To require the Department of Administrative Services to establish a grant program to reimburse certain municipalities for the cost of fire suppression infrastructure.
