ENGROSSED ORIGINAL 1 A BILL 1 2 25-724 3 4 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 5 6 ____________________ 7 8 9 To amend, on a temporary basis, the Attorney General for the District of Columbia Clarification 10 and Elected Term Amendment Act of 2010 to increase the not-to-exceed amount for the 11 Litigation Support Fund to $27 million, and to increase maximum spending from the fund 12 on public safety initiatives from $9 million to $9.7 million. 13 14 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 15 act may be cited as the “Litigation Support Fund Temporary Amendment Act of 2024”. 16 Sec. 2. Section 106b of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia Clarification 17 and Elected Term Amendment Act of 2010, effective October 22, 2015 (D.C. Law 21-36; D.C. 18 Official Code § 1-301.86b), is amended as follows: 19 (a) Subsection (c)(2) is amended to read as follows: 20 “(2) Beginning in Fiscal Year 2024, up to $9.7 million deposited into the Fund 21 each fiscal year may be used for the purposes of crime reduction, violence interruption, and other 22 public safety initiatives. 23 (b) Subsection (d)(3)(A) is amended by striking the phrase “$23.5 million” and inserting 24 the phrase “$27 million” in its place. 25 26 27 ENGROSSED ORIGINAL 2 Sec. 8. Fiscal impact statement. 28 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact 29 statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved 30 October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a). 31 Sec. 9. Effective date. 32 (a) This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by 33 the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 60-day period of congressional review 34 as provided in section 602(c)(2) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 35 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code § 1-206.02(c)(2)), and publication in the District of 36 Columbia Register. 37 (b) This act shall expire after 225 days of its having taken effect. 38
