1 1 ________________________________ 2 Councilmember Charles Allen 3 4 5 A BILL 6 7 _______ 8 9 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 10 11 __________________ 12 13 14 To amend, on a temporary basis, the Department of Transportation Establishment Act of 2002 to 15 authorize the Director to make grants of more than $1 million to the National Park Service 16 for certain projects in the Buzzard Point neighborhood. 17 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 18 act may be cited as the “Buzzard Point Park and Trails National Park Service Grant Temporary 19 Amendment Act of 2024”. 20 Sec. 2. Section 3(c) of the Department of Transportation Establishment Act of 2002, 21 effective May 21, 2002 (D.C. Law 14-137; D.C. Official Code § 50-921.02(c)), is amended by 22 adding a new paragraph (5) to read as follows: 23 “(5) Notwithstanding paragraph (1) of this subsection, the Director may issue 24 grants, including grants in excess of $1 million, to the National Park Service for the purpose of 25 planning, designing, constructing, making improvements to, or maintaining parks and trails within 26 the Buzzard Point neighborhood.”. 27 Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement. 28 2 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact 29 statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved 30 October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a). 31 Sec. 4. Effective date. 32 (a) This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by 33 the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as 34 provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 35 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code § 1-206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of 36 Columbia Register. 37 (b) This act shall expire after 225 days of its having taken effect. 38
