Michael Charles Durant on the 35th Anniversary of his pastorship 14 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church in the Shaw Neighborhood of the District of 15 Columbia. 16 17 WHEREAS, Reverend A. Michael Charles Durant is Pastor of the Tenth Street Baptist 18 Church, located in the historic Shaw neighborhood of the District of Columbia; 19 WHEREAS, Pastor Durant is a native of Buffalo, NY and has the distinction of being an 20 Oxford Fellow of St Antony’s College of the University of Oxford in Oxford, England; 21 WHEREAS, Pastor Durant recently served as the immediate past President of the Baptist 22 Convention of D.C. and Vicinity; 23 WHEREAS, 2023 marks the 35th year of Reverend Durant's tenure as Pastor of the Tenth 24 Street Baptist Church; 25 WHEREAS, Pastor Durant has been a constant for the church and neighborhood over the 26 last 35 years, witnessing this community’s change and growth; 27 WHEREAS, the Tenth Street Baptist Church family takes pride in the accomplishments 28 of Pastor Durant and his longevity in leading the congregation for 35 years, being a good steward 29 of what God has called him to do and committed to maintaining spiritual excellence; and 30 WHEREAS, the Tenth Street Baptist Church will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of their 31 beloved and anointed Pastor, Reverend A. Michael Charles Durant, on Sunday, June 25, 2023. 32 2 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 33 resolution may be cited as the “Reverend A. Michael Charles Durant 35th Anniversary 34 Celebration Recognition Resolution of 2023”. 35 Sec. 2. The Council recognizes and honors Reverend A. Michael Charles Durant for 35 36 years of service at the Tenth Street Baptist Church and his contributions and commitment to the 37 congregation, the Shaw neighborhood, and the Distract at large. 38 Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in 39 the District of Columbia Register. 40
