ENROLLED ORIGINAL 1 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 25-160 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA December 5, 2023 To commemorate the Georgetown Montessori School (the “School”) and its founder, Ms. Lee Allard, as it celebrates its 40 th year in existence. WHEREAS, Ms. Allard founded Georgetown Montessori School in 1983 in Grace Episcopal Church at 1041 Wisconsin Ave N.W.; WHEREAS, the School moved into 2 separate locations, 3038 Q St. N.W. and 1301 35 th St. N.W., before returning the Grace Episcopal Church in 1993; WHEREAS, the School educates young children betwee n the ages of 2 and 6 years old , and the staff and students remain a consistent presence in Georgetown, including working with and donating to the Georgetown Ministry Center; WHEREAS, the School also brings cheer to senior citizens in the community by visiting to the senior retirement facility at 31 st and Q Streets, N.W.; WHEREAS, over 40 years in existence, the Sc hool has educated about 1,400 students including the children of various former students, making the m a true “family school”; WHEREAS, the School continues its tradition of educating young minds, each year maintaining an international population of 40 children with a multilingual staff of teachers and assistants, both AMI (Association Montessori International) and AMS (American Montessori Society) trained. RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, T hat this resolution may be cited as the “Georgetown Montessori School 40 th Anniversary Recognition Resolution of 2023.” Sec. 2 The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes Georgetown Montessori School as is celebrates its 40 th anniversary, and commends the school for its inclusive curriculum, commitment to Montessori principles, and positive contributions to the Georgetown community. Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
