Nadeau Councilmember Janeese Lewis George 19 20 21 22 23 24 A CEREMONAL RESOLUTION 25 __________ 26 27 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 28 __________ 29 30 To recognize and celebrate Elsie B. Harvey on her 100 th birthday. 31 32 WHEREAS, Elsie B. Harvey was born in Appomattox, Virginia on February 28, 1924 where she 33 was raised by her parents along with four siblings; 34 35 WHEREAS, after high school Elsie B. Harvey decided to move to the District of Columbia in her 36 20s and moved her mother to the District some time after and took care of her until she passed away at 37 age 97; 38 39 WHEREAS, Elsie B. Harvey attended beauty school and was a beautician for over 15 years part-40 time, and worked in District Government at the Department of Public Works until she retired; 41 42 WHEREAS, Elsie B. Harvey had three children with William Harvey: Randolph, Nelsine, and 43 Brenda; 44 45 WHEREAS, Elsie B. Harvey has attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for over fifty years; and 46 47 2 WHEREAS, Elsie B. Harvey has been a steadfast resident of the Ward 5 community and will 48 celebrate her 100 th birthday on February 28, 2024. 49 50 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this resolution 51 may be cited as the “Elsie B. Harvey 100 th Birthday Recognition Resolution of 2024”. 52 53 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia honors Elsie B. Harvey for her years of 54 dedication to her community, family, and friends where she has been a pillar in the community. 55 56 Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in the 57 District of Columbia Register. 58
