WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School is historically the first public high 18
school for Colored people and is located on the Corner of N & First street in Ward 5, with its High 19
School motto being ‘Enter to learn, Depart to serve’; 20

WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Basketball team had back-22
to-back DCIAA City Championships wins; 23

WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Basketball Team finished 25
the year with a winning record for the 5

Champions took home several Conference honors including All -League, Player of the Year, MVP 29
of the 2024 DCIAA Girls Basketball Championships ; 30

drew recognition from Washington Post, DCP S, and Council Members; 33

promote high- character student-athletes and great sportsmanship; 36

consists of Head Coach BreAnna Gross and Demauria Liles. 39

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this 65
resolution may be cited as the “Dunbar High School Girls Basketball 2023-2024 DCIAA, 66
Championship Recognition Resolution of 2024.” 67

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors the Dunbar High 69
School Girls Basketball team for winning the 2023- 2024 DCIAA Basketball Championship. 70
