McDuffie 2 3 4 5 6 7 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 8 __________ 9 10 11 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 12 13 ____________________ 14 15 16 To recognize, honor, and congratulate the Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track 17 and Program for winning their 5 th consecutive DCIAA City Championship. 18 19 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School is historically the first public high 20 school for Colored people and is located on the Corner of N & First street in Ward 5, with its High 21 School motto being ‘Enter to learn, Depart to serve’; 22 23 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team had 24 back-to-back DCIAA City Championships wins; 25 26 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Track and Field Team finished the 27 year with a winning record for the 5 th consecutive season; 28 29 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team 30 DCIAA Champions took home several Conference honors including All -League, Field Event 31 MVP, Track MVP of the 2024 DCIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships ; 32 33 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team 34 DCIAA title drew recognition from Washington Post, DCP S, and Council Members; 35 36 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field team has 37 continued to promote high character student -athletes and great sportsmanship; 38 39 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High Girls School Track and Field Team 40 coaching staff consists of Marvin Parker, Yunlay Bridges, Hadiya Green, Sherman Turner, Olivia 41 Sedwick, and Ariana 42 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team was 43 also supported by one student-manager, Kyla Wallace. 44 45 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Girls Track and Field Team is led 46 by All Met Coach of the year, 10+ times DCIAA Coach of the year, Marvin Parker; 47 48 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School Head Coach, Marvin Parker is the 49 recipient of the 2023 DCIAA Coach of the year presented by the DCIAA; 50 51 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School and Head Coach, Ma rvin Parker 52 are dedicated to advocate for legislation to increase the amount of access for underserved 53 communities: 54 WHEREAS, Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School DCIAA Indoor Track and Field 55 championship winning team members include: 56 57 Amiaya Richardson 58 Beniya Bissahoyo 59 Kortney Clipper 60 Giovanni 61 Animal Farug 62 Kaitlyn George 63 Janaya Goins 64 Kyndle Hale 65 Available Jackson 66 Malia Long 67 Avary May 68 Diamond McDonald 69 Jaelyn Moore 70 Samiah Onyekwere-Bussie 71 Malone Plummer 72 Kimora Robinson 73 Mykayla Woods 74 Tahari Wyatt 75 Samiyah Munu 76 Heaven Robinson 77 78 79 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this 80 resolution may be cited as the “Dunbar High School Indoor Track and Field 2024 DCIAA, 81 Championship Recognition Resolution of 2024.” 82 83 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors the Dunbar High 84 School Girls Track and Field team for winning the 2024 DCIAA Indoor Track and Field 85 Championship. 86 87 Sec. 3.
