MorelandStreetNWcurrentlyhasa10-footBuildingRestrictionLine(BRL)alongthenorth/eastside,startingat
NorthamptonStreetandextendingsouthward/eastwardtoitsterminusatthesouthernendofLot31wherethe
unbuiltright-of-waywidensto60feet(theright-of-wayfurtherwidenstoalmost90feetatitsterminus).The
mostcommonpurposeofestablishedBRLswastoeffectivelywidentheright-of-wayfortransportation
purposeswhileleavingthespacewithinthebuildingrestrictionareaasprivateproperty.Inthiscase,
theBRLwasestablishedonMorelandStreetNWtoallowspaceforfuturesidewalksandstreettrees.

approximately45feetawayfromtheproperty.Thetreewascoveredinivybuthadahealthycanopywithno
visiblesignsofdecay.ThisHeritageTreeisprotectedundertheTreeCanopyProtectionActof2016andcannot
bedamagedorcutdownaslongasitishealthy.DDOTrecommendsthattheivyberemovedtofurtherprotect
thetree.
TheabuttingpropertyownersshallcontinuetocoordinatewithUrbanForestryDivision(UFD)toensureany
existingSpecialandHeritagetreeslocatedontheirpropertiesorintheright-of-waytobeclosedarenot
