16 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 
17 resolution may be cited as the "Board 	of Medicine Dr. Carolyn Gorman Confirmation Resolution 
18 of 2023".

20 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

► After seeing patients frustrated with 	the lack of medical advice, sought out training

women's sexual dysfunction evaluation and 	treatment which closed a large and 
important patient care gap 
► Acted as labor and delivery attending physician nurturing 	the delivery of thousands 
of healthy 
new babies 
,-In a large teaching hospital, gave 	constructive criticism to approximately 80 resi	dent 
physicians which contributed to the development of a new generation of 
obstetricians and gynecologists 
► Among all OBGYNs in MAPMG, was the 24

Carolyn Gorman 
Dr. Carolyn Gorman, MD is the physician director 	of Clinician 
Patient Communication (CPC) at the Department 
of Obstetrics and 
Gynecology with Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group 
(MAPMG). 
Throughout her career, Dr. Gorman's passion in medicine has lied 
with medical mission work and health education, specifically in 
sexual health education and treating women with a sexual 
dysfunction. At MAPMG, 
as an attending physician, she has 
nurtured the delivery 
of thousands of healthy newborns and gave 
constructive criticism to approximately 
80 resident physicians. As 
the physician director 
of CPC, she trains physicians in the 4 Habits 
of Communication resulting in physician participants with greater 
self-awareness 
of their communication deficits and facilitates small group sessions with patient 
actors to develop physician participants' skills in establishing rapport and trust. 
Dr. Gorman was named a Top Doc in the Washingtonian Magazine in 2019 and 2020, 	as well as 
in the Northern Virginia Magazine in 2020 and 2021. She was a volunteer physician at Latin 
American Medical Providers, where she visited Guatemala with a medical mission team 
in the 
years 2005 through 2007, and 2010. Dr. Gorman has been with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente 
Group (MAPMG) for the past nine years. 
A Ward 6 resident, Dr. Carolyn Gorman received her medical degree at Virigina Commonwealth 
University, finished her residency at Lutheran General Hospital, and earned a certificate in 
Women's Sexual Health through the University 
of Michigan. She received her Bachelor 	of Arts in 
Spanish from the College of William and Mary.
