To officially recognize and commemorate the Washington Nationals as they celebrate twenty 34
years as a Major League Baseball franchise in the District of Columbia. 35

WHEREAS, on March 27
th
, 2025, the Washington Nationals will commence their 20
th
season in 37
the nation’s capital, marking two decades since baseball’s triumphant return to Washington, DC in 2005; 38

WHEREAS, the Nationals have provided countless memorable moments, from the inaugural 40
game at RFK stadium and Ryan Zimmerman’s iconic walk-off home run during the first game at 41
Nationals Park in 2008, to clinching the World Series Championship in 2019; 42

WHEREAS, over the past twenty years, while logos, players and even ballparks have evolved, 44
the unwavering support and passion of Nationals fans have remained a constant, embodying the spirit of 45
#NATITUDE; 46

WHEREAS, to honor this milestone, the Nationals have launched “NATS20”, a season- long 48
celebration featuring the “Cheers to 20 Years Sweepstakes”, the most extensive in club history, along 49 with in-park giveaways, special alumni appearances, and opportunities for fans to relive and recreate their 50
favorite Nationals moments; 51

WHEREAS, the Nationals have unveiled a commemorative 20
th
anniversary logo, symbolizing 53
two decades of baseball excellence and community engagement in Washington, DC; 54

WHEREAS, the Nationals have invited fans to select their favorite 20 moments from the past two 56
decades, which will be showcased throughout Nationals Park beginning on Opening Day; 57

WHEREAS, the Nationals Homecoming Gala will celebrate the profound impact of baseball on 59
the community, featuring a fan fest and red carpet event at The Wharf, culminating in the presentation of 60
the 2025 Power of Baseball Award at The Anthem; 61

WHEREAS, the Nationals 20 year journey reflects resilience, dedication, and a commitment to 63
excellence that continues to enrich the cultural and social fabric of Washington, DC and the region; 64

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this resolution 66
may be cited as the “Washington Nationals 20
th
Anniversary Recognition Resolution of 2025.” 67

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia hereby celebrates and commends the 69
Washington Nationals for their 20 years of contributions to our city and extends to the organization 70
appreciation and gratitude for the joy and unity they bring to the Washington, DC community. 71

Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in the 73
District of Columbia Register. 74
